For the first time, guntû will sail eastward beyond Shodoshima to visit the Ieshima Islands on this special five-day, four-night cruise. Ieshima was once a harbor for seafarers waiting for favorable winds and tides. Later, as the wave of modernization reached these shores during Japan’s rapid economic growth, the islands’ quarries and shipping industry supplied infrastructure projects across the Osaka region.
This route offers a chance to reflect opens a window onto the journeys of the seafarers of the past, and the daily life of these local placeson the ordinary life of these towns and the travels of those who passed through their ports.
